Care Home Manager Catches Mackerel for Residents
Leigh, the care home manager at Ilfracombe Residential Care Home, is passionate about providing residents with a nurturing and caring environment. He believes that one of the best ways to do this is to connect them with the natural world and make use of the incredible resources in the local area around Ilfracombe.
So earlier this week when Leigh caught a few mackerel in the bay, he knew exactly what he wanted to do with it - take back to the home for the in house cook to prepare for dinner.
"The residents were so excited to see the mackerel," said Leigh. "They helped me to clean them and then we all sat down to a delicious meal of freshly caught fish. It was a great way to connect with the residents and to show them how much we care about them."
The residents were not only excited to eat the mackerel, but they were also impressed by Leigh's fishing skills. "Leigh's a natural," said one resident. "I've never seen anyone catch fish so easily."
Leigh is glad to able to share his love of fishing with the residents and is incredibly proud of the slap up meal provided by the in house cook.
"This is why we do what we do, fresh fish, home cooked is exactly the sort of experience we want for our residents, not just nutritious but nurturing." said Leigh. "It was a great way to show the residents how much we care about them."
If you're looking for a care home that provides a nurturing and caring environment, then Ilfracombe Residential Care Home is a great option.
